The MPA-ASPA Dinner was held on Tuesday, February 19. Many thanks to the American Society for Public Administration Greater Cincinnati Chapter for supporting this event!

SAVE THE DATE: The MPA Spring Banquet will be Wednesday, April 3, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Regional and National Awards

Dave Elmer (MPA 2004) was selected for the Evendale Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award, Lindsay Lomax (MPA 2018) received a Covington’s Heart of the Community 2018 award and MPA student Danielle Ott was granted a scholarship from the Northern Kentucky City and County Management Association (NKCCMA).

Caroline Braden
Caroline Braden (MPA 2009) was elected as City Commissioner in Taylor Mill. Paula Brehm-Heeger (MPA 2016) gave the first State of the Library speech. And Keith Lanser (NPM certificate, 2013) engages college students in service learning, student philanthropy, voting and other civic activities.

Student Highlights
Diverse Public
Our Leading in Diverse Public Environments class (PAD 631) participated in the Mayerson Student Philanthropy project. The students awarded a $1,000 grant to two nonprofit organizations – Mortar Cincinnati and the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio.



New Jobs and Promotions
  • Hilary Blakemore (MPA 2012) is now the Senior Director of Development with the Oregon Symphony, which is the oldest symphony in the western United States and the sixth oldest in the United States.
  • Tom Haggard (MPA student) was hired as Director of Workforce Development at Brighton Center in February 2019.
  • John Hennessey (MPA 2018) is now the Financial Aid Officer at the Center for Employment and Training at Brighton Center.
  • Christina Ingle (MPA 2016) recently began as Assistant to the City Administrator in the City of Springdale, Ohio.
  • Telly McGaha (MPA 2002) started as Director of Development for Georgia State University's Honors College.
  • Amy Schildmeyer-Humphrey (MPA 2017) was promoted to Director of the recently-formed Department of Administrative Services in the Hamilton County Auditor's Office.
  • Bethany Smith (MPA student) recently began a new position as Donor Relations Specialist at the Talbert House.
  • Wade Williams (MPA 2001) was selected as Vice President of Business Development for REDI Cincinnati. REDI is "the first point-of-contact for companies locating or growing" in the 15-county region of Greater Cincinnati.
  • Rick Wilson (MPA 2009) is currently serving as the Senior Foundation Officer for Grant Development at the Bethesda Foundation. The foundation is part of the TriHealth system, which consists of four area hospitals, occupational health centers, fitness centers, home health care, and hospice care.
  • Billie Jo Wood (2013) is Assistant Director of Residence Life at Montclair State University in Essex County, New Jersey, which is part of the New York City metro area.
