We’ll retrace the path of the Allied forces in 1944-45 – first in England with walking tours highlighting wartime London and visits to military museums and Winston Churchill’s command bunker and country home – before sailing across the English Channel from Portsmouth to Normandy on the route followed by history’s greatest amphibious invasion force.  In France, we’ll re-live the Allied landing experience at Omaha and Utah Beaches and the Pointe du Hoc and the airborne heroics at the Pegasus Bridge and Sainte-Mère-Eglise.  We’ll conclude our re-living of the World War Two experience in Paris, with visits to the French Army Museum and other sites commemorating the liberation of France from Hitler’s control.  In addition to organized group activities during which Profs. Le Roy and Williams will provide historical context, there will be time for independent sightseeing in London and Paris when you can follow your own inclinations and interests.  Both Jeffrey Williams and François Le Roy have many years of experience in guiding students on study abroad programs in both England and France, many with a focus on World War Two.  They are looking forward to co-leading this alumni tour and hope to re-connect with many of their former students as well as make new friends with travelers who share their fascination with history.
